How do you decide where to buy your
Jansport backpack online? There are
so many vendors it seems to be a bigger job to decide where to buy from than to
decide which style and colour to choose. To make it easier for you we have
chosen and
researched 3 mainstream, well known, popular and established online
sellers of Jansport backpacks. We have then reviewed each site and we let you
know what user experience you can expect to enjoy on each site.
Home Pages
All 3 sites have some products on their home page and also information about their latest sale prices or special offers. LuggageGuru and eBags both prominently show a category list on the left hand side of their home page. This allows you to easily find your area of interest, for instance ‘backpacks’, very quickly and easily. On both of these sites the category is also broken down further with eBags having much more detail in their breakdown (both by brand and backpack type) than LuggageGuru. Kaehler only has the traditional top menu (LuggageGuru and eBags of course have this as well) and their menu choices are categorised into fewer items. If you prefer lots of detail for your initial search go to LuggageGuru or eBags. If you prefer broad information go to Kaehler. Kaehler‘s detailed breakdown appears on the page once you arrive at Backpacks.
Backpack Pages
Once you get to the main backpack page there are quite a few differences between all the sites.
On LuggageGuru you can breakdown your choice further by using a
dropdown to choose Manufacturer and then another dropdown to choose material.
This can really help you drill down and easily find the item you are looking for
providing of course that you really know exactly which Jansport backpack you
want. You do need to be careful because it appears to be quite easy to confuse
the dropdown boxes if you happen to make too many choices one after the other in
an order that the system doesn’t like. If you do succeed in baffling the system
LuggageGuru will report ‘No Items Found’ when they really do have items. All you
would need to do to clear this problem is to change all the dropdowns to ‘All’
and start again. They also have a facility to
Shop By Price and by the
type of backpack you are looking for.
On eBags you can also use a dropdown to choose a brand. They have a
much more extensive list of backpack types and they also show how many backpacks
they have of each type right there where you make the choice. You can see this
number even before you actually make the choice. Interestingly, they also have a
link to a list of new items which would be very useful and appealing if you are
looking for something different that hasn’t been out yet. Amazingly you can also
shop by colour. And again they show the number of items in each colour.
Kaehler again doesn’t have the same level of choices but of course allows you to shop by type and brand. Sometimes having less choice is easier especially if you are just beginning to do your research.
Summary
Kaehler has a lot of choice but less than the others. It is an easy to navigate web site without the ability to make choices at a very detailed level before you get to see any products.
LuggageGuru has an enormous amount of choice and allows you to decide on what you want to see in a very detailed way.
eBags has as much choice as LuggageGuru and they have made a consistent effort to allow you to make your choices in many different and useful ways. For example, whether by price, colour or brand. In addition, they also allow you to view pictures of the backpacks in many different ways so that you can get as close to seeing, feeling and touching your chosen bag as is possible on the internet.
Happy choosing!
